Hi! My name is Malone, and I am an exceptionally friendly, happy, and affectionate, young, neutered male Lab/Great Pyr mix! Quick Facts Breed: Yellow Lab/Great Pyrenees mix Age: 2 years old Size: 45 pounds (small for my mix!) Good with dogs: Yes! I really likes other dogs, and want to play and be friends very much, but apparently I lack some doggy social skills so need more practice (and maybe a patient other dog to teach me the ropes)! Good with cats: Yes! Good with kids: Havent been around kids, but love people so very much, would probably love an older kid to play with! History I was found stray in KY and was taken to a small, dismal, high-kill shelter. They ran out of space and I was about to be put to sleep, but luckily was rescued by a wonderful rescue lady, and have been in a terrific kennel ever since. Since no good homes in my region have been found for me, were now looking to find me that perfect forever home in central NY, where I hear there are awesome dog loving people! Personality I love love love love love people! I am very affectionate and very playful. I love leaning against you and love it when you want to pet me. I am wild about belly rubs, and will roll over on my back with a twinkle in my eye any time I think a belly rub is a possibility! I am a super happy-go-lucky boy! I seem to be smiling all of the time (except for when you point a camera at me!), and am always happy and friendly and ready to play! You can really see the Lab personality in me-- I never seem to be in an unhappy mood! I would be delighted if I had a fenced yard to play in! I dont run around the yard so much as leap around the yardits pretty cute and pretty silly/funny I am told! I dont like to be out in the yard all by myself though.I really want you to be out there playing with me or for there to be another playful dog who wants to have some fun! I love the company of people and other dogs so very much, I am a super social boy. Im a pretty quiet dog, and in fact, hardly make a peep even at the kennel, where dogs usually bark a lot just because there are other dogs barking. Not me! I love treats (I am part Lab, after all!) and would be so happy if my adopter(s) wanted to take me to positive training classes so I could learn all sorts of fun things! Since I am so people focused, and so food motivated, I am betting I will be at the very top of my class! My fur is more Lab-like (short) than Pyr-like (very long). Other than when I blew my coat when I first came to the kennel, I dont seem to shed very much. Co-habitation I would love to live with another dog and am great with cats too! The rescue folks think that I must not have been around other dogs when I was a baby/young dog, because I seem to lack the doggy social skills that many dogs have. For instance, I run straight at new dogs, at top speed, because I want to play-play-play with them, and think its a fun play solicitation to bite on their ear a bit! But actually most dogs dont like this! I get all confused about why they dont want to play with me, or why they let out a low growl at me, when all I want is to be their friend! The kennel folks have found that if they keep me on leash for a little while (to stop me from running at the other dogs and nipping at their ears), until the other dog can see that I am being playful and mean no harm (albeit in my dufus sort of way) then I can have some wonderful playtime with other dogs!! I'm really just a big goof, but a goof who needs to learn better social manners so all the other dogs will like me just as much as i like them. For this reason, everyone thinks that a home with a patient, playful other dog (of either gender) would work well, but a home with a cranky dog or with one who doesnt want to play at all wouldnt be the best fit for me. Medical Im in great health! Nothing to speak of! Summary I am a terrific boy and am looking for a loving, fun, wonderful forever home to call my own. Even though I am in KY in a kennel at present, dont worry about that. My rescuer will bring me up to meet you if you seem like the ideal person or fam
